Get a Grip with the Farson Hatchet from Fremont Knives

You may have seen my earlier review of the Farson Blade by Fremont Knives. It’s the ultimate tool for skinning game and can be fashioned into a makeshift hatchet using the 8 feet of paracord. Fremont Knives just took the Farson Blade to another level and created the Farson Hatchet with a solid handle so you can choke up on the tool to get some real work done. Made from 1095 carbon steel, this tool will certainly pass the longevity test. The blade is coated in Titanium Nitride to increase durability.
Like its sister blade (the Farson Blade), the Farson Hatchet has a 5.5″ cutting edge length ensuring you the ability to cut at nearly any angle which still gives you the flexibility to maintain it as a skinning tool. Its overall length is 9.5″ with the handle”, 3″ wide and weighs 9.6 ounces making it a perfect prepping choice for a tactical hatchet in your bug out bag. It’s great for shelter building, skinning big game or using at your campsite preparing dinner. It performs a lot of tasks that an ordinary knife cannot do. Being able to get leverage and chop with blunt force is much easier using the Farson Hatchet than a knife. Having a handle also allows you to use it better as a weapon.
The Farson Hatchet comes with 8 feet of paracord like the Farson Blade. You can still lash it to a larger pole if you want to use it like an axe, giving you more leverage and more force. It also comes with a nice nylon sheath to protect the blade and yourself! This rascal is sharp, so be careful when using it. Most forget about the blade edge at the top of the tool.
You can’t really go wrong with either the Farson Blade or the Farson Hatchet. I prefer the hatchet a bit more just because of the leverage and the titanium nitride coating. It seems to be a bit more versatile. However, if you’re big into skinning game, the Farson Blade is the best choice. Either way, they are both great quality blades and well worth the small investment to own one. You can order the Farson Hatchet on Amazon.com.
